MESSING AROUND WITH PAPER (aka Alternative Bookbinding)
- A Newbies Series workshop**
Lianne Mitchell not only sports a great name, she's a talented bookbinder who will spend the day teaching you simple bookmaking projects. You'll learn four forms of the folded book: the accordion, the gate-fold, the 8-fold and the wallet fold. These books are incredibly versatile, get you thinking outside the box and allow you to explore the different possibilities of a single piece of paper. If you're a teacher or parent, this class offers some unique projects you can do with your kids. What fun!
SATURDAY, APRIL 9 11:00 to 5:00 $70.00
COMBINING COLLAGE AND BEESWAX
What an opportunity to experiment with wax! LITHUANIAN DECORATED EGGS
Just in time for Easter! Learn to decorate eggs with traditional Lithuanian folk patterns. This is not Ukrainian egg decoration which, although beautiful, is more time consuming and detailed than we are really interested in pursuing. Birute Macijauskas will show you an easier, and just as gorgeous, technique.
The eggs are batiked using beeswax, then dyed with natural dyes from plants such as onions, red cabbage, beets and blackberries. Although this class is geared to showcase the traditional way of decorating, the techniques learnt can be used in myriad experimental ways.
TUESDAY, APRIL 19 6:30 TO 9:00 $43.00 (includes all supplies)
